How safe is a BBBJ? Is it possible to contract an STD through these practices?...If so, which STDs are a risk? Is one partner more at risk than the other?
Safety is an issue we should be able to discuss openly as adults; and hopefully, further educate and/or enlighten the users of Cerb through this discussion thread...
I find this chart to be inaccurate and outdated...
BBBJ is listed as high risk for Syphilis, which the medical industry does not currently consider it, based on not only how it is transmitted-- but also based on how often it is tested and how easy it is to test for, which it is tested for regularly when you go for STD testing.
It also lists protected vaginal sex for no risk for several STDs, I think that's beyond misleading-- Using a condom does NOT negate all risk involved, especially when used incorrectly or past the expiry date.
Nothing is really safe... Leaving your house everyday isn't safe.
At least when it comes to STDs you can take control, practice safe sex and get tested regularly...
There's no test for if you might get run over by a bus leaving the house.
Actually, the only safe sexual practise is complete abstinence....or masturbation.
Neither of those are actually sex though... One is actually the opposite of sex.
I personally believe being "safe" with anything starts with being informed.
Current STD information can be found here; http://www.cdc.gov/std/default.htm ...

Agreed....was just pointing out the fact that if you don't want the risk, don't play; either in the escort world or in the bar scene. But yes, it is a responsible act to inform yourself using accurate information. On your next visit to your doctor, start a dialogue about STI's as well as using the net (just be mindful that not everything you read is true)

But I heard too much masturbation can make you go blind. I would therefor assume it is not listed as safe either..
(J/k of course :P)

Actually Meg said "safe sexual practice" not safe sex. And having no sex (abstinence) is a safe sexual practice, since you are in fact not having sex
And masturbation is self sexual gratification, so is in fact safe sex...the only risk is at night and possibly dropping the flashlight on yourself LOL
But even in committed monogamous relationships, well how many affairs occur in life...the only person's sexual past and current sexual behaviour you can absolutely know is your own, everyone else's, be it wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend etc, all you have is their word, and people being people, some do lie.
